Any project can become a hassle when you bring up a large number of windows on your screen. The latest Windows editions allow you to change their size and position by clicking and dragging them to one of the screen's edges, but it is still not enough. Divvy makes window management faster and easier. Thanks to its simplicity, you can change a window's size and position instantly, just by drawing a rectangle on a compact interface.

The application is available for Windows and Mac and it takes about a minute to install it. The installation file for Windows platforms is almost 9 MB, which can be downloaded fast, even with less than spectacular Internet connections. Furthermore, Divvy provides support for both 32 and 64-bit operating systems and it does not ask for too many resources.

Divvy works in the background and you can bring up its compact interface by clicking the application's system tray icon or by using a keyboard shortcut. The interface consists of a grid and you must draw a rectangle over its cells, while a window is active. Depending on which cells you select, the active window will be resized and placed in the corresponding position.

You can access a tabbed settings menu on the same interface. The available options are quite simple, but they can help you resize your windows in a comfortable manner. You can enable and customize your own keyboard shortcut, so you don't have to click the system tray icon each time you want to resize a window. It is also possible to save different sizes and positions using the same grid and to associate them with keyboard shortcuts.

Setting up multiple shortcuts can make your work uncomfortable, because they could interfere with other shortcuts. This is why your defined keyboard shortcuts will work only when the interface is active. Furthermore, it is not mandatory to set up combinations. You can specify a single key if you want to. It can be a letter, a number, a function or a lock key and so on. By default, the interface will disappear when you resize a window, but you can set it to stay visible until dismissed. Instead of bringing up the interface repeatedly, you can access it a single time, select different windows, press the appropriate keys to resize them and close the interface when you are done.
